Kyle Filipowski wasn’t just one of the best players in the 2025 Summer League. He was the best.

After putting up monster numbers of 29.3 points a game on 56.1% field goal shooting and 39.1% from deep in Las Vegas, Filipowski was named the NBA 2K26 Summer League Most Valuable Player.

best offensive player amongst the summer competition. He had two separate games of over 30 points, scoring 35 against the Spurs and 32 against the Hornets. Including the three games he played in Salt Lake, he had three double-doubles in six games this summer.

He was so good that he got what all great players get in the summer league: benched. Filipowski did not play the last two games for the Jazz. The coaching staff had seen what they needed to see from the second-year big man out of Duke.

The Jazz drafted Filipowski with the 32nd pick in the second round of the 2024 NBA Draft after his stock fell from what seemed to be a guaranteed lottery selection. After already selecting Cody Williams and Isaiah Collier in the same draft, the Jazz pulled the trigger on a player who was one of the top draft prospects just one year prior.

His rookie season got off to a slow start, but ended on a strong note, averaging 14.8 points and 8.5 rebounds in the months of March and April. His momentum only carried over into the summer, and he has proved himself to be one of the steals of the 2024 NBA Draft.

With the offseason departure of John Collins, expect to see significant playing time for Filipowski for the Utah Jazz in the 2025-26 season.
