Meta has introduced new safety features on Instagram aimed at protecting teen users. These enhancements include additional information and warnings about accounts that teens might contact via direct messages. The new features allow teens to view safety tips, block accounts, and see the month and year an account joined Instagram. Meta reported that in June, 1 million Teen Accounts either reported or blocked accounts, and another 1 million used the Location Notice feature to check if an account messaging them was from a different country. These features are currently exclusive to Instagram, but Meta may consider extending them to Facebook Messenger in the future.
