WHAT'S THE STORY?

MLB: Spring Training-Atlanta Braves at Toronto Blue Jays

(62-40) Durham Bulls @ (42-62) Gwinnett Stripers - 7:05 PM ET

Pitching Probables

DRM: TBD

GWI: Austin Cox (2-2, 4.05 ERA)

After last night’s disastrous loss that saw newly demoted Taj Bradley spin an absolute gem against the Stripers, they are out for revenge and are going with a bullpen game as Austin Cox gets the start. The Stripers were no hit until the 9th inning last night, so hopefully they are able to jump on top of whoever will be scheduled to pitch for the Durham Bulls to make up for last night. The top 3 of the lineup will likely remain the same with Luke Waddell, Ignacio

Alvarez Jr., and Carlos Rodríguez - the teams three best hitters. They went 0-for-10 last night, with Carlos walking twice, which is a good indicator of how the offense will perform. Look for those three to get it started at the top of the lineup and some good power out of Eddys Leonard to hopefully come away with the win.

(38-57) Columbus Clingstones @ (51-47) Montgomery Biscuits - 7:35 PM ET

Pitching Probables

COL: Lucas Braun (4-3, 4.15 ERA)

MNT: Yoniel Curet (0-0, 1.98 ERA)

The Clingstones were absolutely thumped last night 11-2, so Lucas Braun takes to the mound to hopefully answer back. While it’s been an up-and-down year for Lucas, he’s coming off of one of his best starts of the years last week (6IP 2H 1ER 2BB 8K), and has had a great month of July outside of his one start on July 20th. It’s been tough sledding for the Clingstones offensively, as they scraped together two runs yesterday, as they are carried mostly by the top 4 hitters in their lineup (Quintero, McCabe, Workinger, Compton). The four of them went a combined 3-for-15 which simply won’t be enough for the Clingstones. Look for the four of them to get things started against Yoniel Curet early in the game, which takes some of the pressure off of the bottom of the lineup, more specifically, E.J. Exposito who homered yesterday.

(69-28) Greensboro Grasshoppers @ (39-56) Rome Emperors - 7:00 PM ET

Pitching Probables

GRN: Peyton Stumbo (0-0, 2.04 ERA)

ROM: TBD

The Emperors are running into the buzzsaw that are the Greensboro Grashoppers - one of the hottest teams across minor league baseball. Greensboro will be looking to win their 70th game of the season, and turn to Peyton Stumbo who has been strong this year. Rome has yet to announce a starter. The Emperors offense scraped together one run on six hits last night - highlighted by a two hit game by Patrick Clohisy who has seen significant improvement this season in his approach - and also stole his 60th base of the season. For the Emperors to pull off the upset they need more of that from Patrick, and more contributions from Tavarez, Janas, and Mason Guerra.

(56-38) Carolina Mudcats @ (49-47) Augusta GreenJackets - 7:05 PM ET

Pitching Probables

CAR: Wande Torres (1-6, 5.61 ERA)

AUG: Jeremy Reyes (1-5, 2.96 ERA)

The GreenJackets have been playing one of the top minor league teams across the country extremely well, and look to continue their winning ways tonight as Jeremy Reyes takes to the mound. Reyes, who has struggled with shoulder issues the last two years, looks to finally be completely healthy and is slinging the ball of late. While he was erratic in his last start (5 walks, 6 strikeouts), he’s continued to keep bats at bay as he’s given up just 12 hits this month (20 innings pitched). The velocity has continued to rise and he’s now sitting in the upper 90s which is very encouraging for a player that’s had that injury history. Look for Jeremy to hopefully continue his good 2025 campaign. Offensively, there are tons of players to watch with Eric Hartman, John Gil, Owen Carey, and Isaiah Drake all playing quite well at the moment. Juan Mateo seems to be settling into the GreenJackets as well.

(21-18) DSL Red Sox Red @ (17-22) DSL Braves - 11:00 AM ET

Pitching Probables

RED: TBD

BRA: TBD

The DSL season continues on as the Braves host the Red Sox Red squad. Look for Tornes, Espinal, and Carmona as the big offensive standouts.
