Queensberry promoter Frank Warren spends some time talking to Sky Sports about Daniel Dubois losing to Oleksandr Usyk in their rematch over the weekend, the potential for Tyson Fury’s return, and a few other topics. Check out some excerpts of what Warren had to say below.

Warren on his reaction to Dubois’ second loss to Usyk

“I though Daniel done okay the first couple of rounds but Usyk then just basically took over the fight. He’s got a great mental. He’s so strong mentally — if you think about it, every fight he’s had has been on the road because of obviously

the war in Ukraine. Going into other people’s backyards and coming away with the prize each time, it takes a bit of a mindset to do that as well as the skills that he has. But he done a fantastic job and took the fight over and eventually stopped Daniel.”

On Tyson Fury still believing he’s the only man who can beat Usyk and if he’ll pursue a third fight

“We’ll see but he likes that fight, he wants that fight, and they were close fights by the way. Very, very close fight, both of those fights that Tyson had with him so who knows. Anything can happen in this business and maybe that’s a fight that could be made if indeed Usyk wants to do it and Tyson wants to do it.

“I have no problem with it. In fact, it was mentioned during an interview over the PA address at Wembley on Saturday and everybody gave a loud cheer so I’m sure there will be an appetite for it.

“We’d like to see it happen, that’s all I can tell you at the moment. Tyson, he’s filming at the moment with his Netflix series...he’s got a documentary also that’s being filmed. So he’s out of action this year. Next year, as you quite rightly say, before he comes back it’d be probably sometime in early new year, April. But we got to have conversation.”

On the potential for a Fury vs Joshua fight

“The public all wants to see him fight AJ and it’s a fight that’s not happened, and it’s one of those fights that maybe should have happened a few years ago but it didn’t for various reasons. But there’s massive appetite for that fight, too. But Tyson, basically what he feels, he wants to try and put the record straight with Usyk. That’s the fight he would like.”

On Anthony Joshua being in talks to fight Jake Paul

“There are talks, I’m quite aware of that...whatever people say about Jake Paul, if he’s willing to step up and get into the ring with AJ, that tells you a lot about him. Shows that he’s got some belief in himself...I’m sure if it happens everybody will buy into it, the general public will buy into that fight.”
