VAST Data has partnered with SK Telecom to develop a sovereign AI infrastructure in South Korea, utilizing Nvidia Blackwell GPUs. This collaboration aims to enhance AI model development under a government-backed program, reducing provisioning times from weeks to under 10 minutes. The infrastructure, known as the Haein Cluster, is part of Korea's Ministry of Science and ICT's initiative to improve AI computing resource utilization. The project will provide GPU-as-a-Service (GPUaaS) within South Korea, supporting national AI foundation model development. Despite lacking certification under the Cloud Security Assurance Program, SK Telecom was selected as the top bidder for a government-funded GPU leasing project.
