What's Happening?
The European Space Agency (ESA) is preparing to launch the first MetOp Second Generation (MetOp-SG) satellite, MetOp-SG-A1, from French Guiana aboard an Ariane 6 rocket. This launch marks the beginning of a six-satellite constellation designed to improve weather forecasting and climate monitoring across Europe. The MetOp-SG satellites will replace the first generation of satellites that have been operational since 2006.
