Cope sics Hurt Syndicate on FTR after they move closer to Tag titles

WHAT'S THE STORY?

@AEW

Just as Dynamite started tonight (July 23), AEW announced their latest tournament. Eight teams will compete for the right to get hurt by challenge Tag champs Bobby Lashley & Shelton Benjamin, starting with FTR and JetSpeed (we were told we’d learn more about the other first round match-ups “later”).

& Kevin Knight started hot, but Bailey seemed to tweak his knee landing on the floor after he and his partner performed tandem splashes...

... and Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler capitalized on that, and targeted Knight’s knee as well. JetSpeed recovered, surviving stereo Sharpshooters to get back on the offensive.

But the Top Guys managed to avoid taking a pin... by any means necessary. And when the referee’s vision was blocked, their manager Stokely Hathaway got involved to not only save Dax from a pin, but to use his crutch to give him leverage to pin Knight.

Hathaway is walking with a crutch because Adam Copeland spear-ed him in half last week when Stoke told the Rated R Superstar that there’s a restraining order preventing him from putting his hands on Dax & Cash. Cope had a workaround, paying the faction FTR just moved one step closer to challenging for the belts... The Hurt Syndicate.

They did what they do until security separated them.

The Top Guys need two more wins to win to earn a shot at Lashley & Benjamin, but I don’t think Cope will let them get that far.
