Bayern Munich fans will remember the name Malik Tillman from a few years back. The United States international never really hit his flow with Die Roten
but a few years removed, Tillman finally broke out. Tillman was loaned for two seasons abroad for Rangers and PSV, respectively. However, it was in the Netherlands when he truly broke onto the scene. In his two years with PSV, Tillman reached 44 goal contributions and started to attract big names in Europe. Despite selling Tillman for just 12 million
euros, Bayern Munich had a buy-back option on their former talent, but did not activate the option.
“No, I’m not really surprised. It was up to them. They have great players. They had the option, but they didn’t take it. I wasn’t really concerned with that,” as captured by @iMiaSanMia via Bild.
Despite being valued at 32 million euros now, Bayern seemingly did not want their former talent back. Tillman has now completed his move to Bayer Leverkusen, and will return to the Bundesliga, but does not seem phased by Bayern’s rejection.
Did Bayern Munich make a mistake by not bringing back Tillman? Or was it the right move to call it a loss and move on?
