With the No. 376 selection in the 2025 MLB Draft, the Chicago White Sox chose Texas Longhorns catcher Rylan Galvan.

Ranked as the No. 176 overall prospect by MLB.com, Galvan has one season of eligibility remaining, but Texas has already landed his replacement from the NCAA transfer portal with
the addition of former Notre Dame standout Carson Tinney.
Ranked as the No. 19 catcher and No. 326 overall prospect by Perfect Game in the 2022 recruiting class out of Sinton, Galvan made 22 starts as a freshman in 2023, batting .226 with four home runs and 19 RBI before emerging as the team’s full-time starter in 2024. Galvan showed improvement, hitting for a .287 average with 14 doubles, eight home runs and 37 RBI before a true breakout season in 2025 during which he became one of the nation’s top catchers and was named a finalist for the Buster Posey Award. Galvan slashed .296/.452/.613 with 14 doubles, 15 home runs, and 47 RBI while adding nine stolen bases.
