The Memphis Grizzlies have agreed to a contract buyout for guard Cole Anthony, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania. Per the report, Anthony already has a landing spot in mind.
Cole Anthony has agreed to a contract buyout with the Memphis Grizzlies and plans to sign with the Milwaukee Bucks after he clears waivers, sources tell ESPN. Grizzlies finalized the buyout with Jeff Schwartz and Javon Phillips of Excel Sports for Anthony’s new opportunity.
Anthony, who is entering his sixth season in the NBA,
was acquired by Memphis from the Orlando Magic alongside Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and draft capital in the Desmond Bane trade this offseason.
He seems poised to play a significant role for a Milwaukee team that is lacking guard play following the injury and subsequent departure of Damian Lillard. Anthony will be competing with Kevin Porter Jr. and Gary Trent Jr. for a starting spot this season.
Anthony was under contract for the 2025-26 NBA season and had a team option for the 2026-27 season, according to Spotrac. His contract was worth $13.1 million for the upcoming season.
The Portland native averaged 12.5 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game over the course of his five years in Orlando.
