Monday Headlines: Koby Brea balling out in Las Vegas

WHAT'S THE STORY?

For the first time in a long while, the Kentucky Wildcats did not produce a first round NBA draft pick this past season.

While a lot of the “one-and-done” as well as the “NBA draft” hype was centered around previous Kentucky head coach John Calipari, the Wildcats simply didn’t have any stellar youth on their team this past season — which is what the NBA has fully leaned in to when it comes to first round draft selections.

Kentucky did, however, see both Koby Brea (Phoenix Suns) and Amari Williams (Boston

Celtics) drafted in the middle of the second round.

Both have been participating in the NBA Summer League, representing their respective teams and Brea has been the talk of the town.

The former UK shooting guard has been lighting it up through his first two games, scoring 15 points in his SL debut and most recently posting 19 points (on 7-10 shooting) in his second game.

Phoenix is in a tough position financially with several large contracts on their roster, so Brea being an inexpensive second round pick will only help his case to make the team.

Could we see a Brea-Devin Booker backcourt at some point this coming season?
