Report: Bayern Munich youngster Lennart Karl ‘first backup’ to Michael Olise

Bayern Munich youngster Lennart Karl has an opportunity to break into the first team this year. In fact, by some reports, he is already right on the cusp.

summer, is joined on the opposite flank by this summer’s splash signing in Luis Díaz. Also in the mix are veterans Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry — though after Thomas Müller’s departure, the latter is likely the top option to spell Harry Kane at striker.

The wild card right now is Jamal Musiala’s injury, and the Bavarians could well make another signing to bolster their options in central attack. It’s a position that Olise, Gnabry, or a transfer target like Xavi Simons or Nico Woltemade could also play.

But any way you slice it, the situation looks good for Karl. At just 17 years of age, he should be in line for playing time this season. How much? That depends on how well — and how quickly — he can adapt to the senior level.
