Kyle Fletcher blames Dustin Rhodes for making his mother cry

WHAT'S THE STORY?

Dustin Rhodes produced a feel-good moment when winning the TNT Championship at AEW All In in his home state of Texas. Not everybody was joyous at that outcome. Obviously, Kyle Fletcher was not happy about his own failure. He wasn’t the only one in a foul mood. Fletcher claims that his mother cried about the loss.

Rhodes stood tall at All In to finally win the TNT title in a four-way over Fletcher, Sammy Guevara, and Daniel Garcia.

Dustin is now a triple champ holding the TNT, ROH tag, and ROH six-man titles. As the Natural cut a backstage promo, it sounded like Homer Simpson’s home distillery was next door. Dustin stepped up due to Adam Cole’s injury, and he was shocked to win. Dustin learned from his father (Dusty Rhodes) to keep pushing forward.

Fletcher returned to action on Wednesday night for a strong win over Mascara Dorada on AEW Dynamite. Backstage, the Protostar explained how Dustin robbed the moment from him. Fletcher flew his mother in from Australia to witness his greatness. Instead of a celebration, his mother sobbed in his chest. He blames Dustin for making his mother cry. All that pain turned to rage deep within Fletcher’s soul. The only thing he wants to do is inflict that pain on Dustin. Fletcher’s mission is to take everything from Dustin.

That was a very good promo from Fletcher. It sounded like a supervillain origin story to develop motivation for the evil deeds that come ahead. Even though the logic leans heel, it is still easy to understand Fletcher’s point of view. I don’t know how true that story is about Fletcher’s mother crying, but it helps paint a picture about his frustration. Fletcher’s attitude should produce a good feud with the beloved fan favorite in Dustin.
