The Yankees are back in the Bronx, and they had a day to lick their wounds after falling further behind the Blue Jays in the standings. Their road trip started out promising with a series victory over Atlanta, but a sloppy series with Toronto only served to highlight their flaws as they continued their poor play within the AL East. Now they move onto another tough foe in the Phillies, recently dethroned from the NL East top spot.
We’ve got a busy schedule up until first pitch, so let’s get right into
it. Nick Power starts us off with the series preview of the Phillies pitching matchups, and then Estevão gets into the Rivalry Roundup and the few teams that were in action on Thursday. John’s got a double-feature, first covering Emmanuel Clase as a high-hopes trade target and then providing the latest 2000 Diary entry. Nolan makes the case for and against trading Cam Schlittler at the deadline, and then I’ll be back to answer your mailbag questions.
Today’s Matchup:
New York Yankees vs. Philadelphia Phillies
Time: 7:05 p.m. EST
TV/Streaming: Apple TV+
Radio: WFAN 660/101.9 FM, WADO 1280

Questions/Prompts:
1. Does Will Warren need a standout performance tonight to hold onto his rotation spot next month? Is his fate entirely dependent on whether Cam Schlittler gets traded or not?
2. Now that the Mariners and Diamondbacks have pushed over the first trade domino, will more follow today or are we going to wait until deadline day?
