Chelsea appear to have pulled off a bit of a transfer miracle, with the BBC reporting that the João Félix deal with Al-Nassr is to the tune of €50m (£43.7m), which would see us not only break even, but perhaps even come out a bit ahead in this whole situation.
The €50m is slightly less than the £45m we paid to Atlético Madrid last summer to get Félix for what proved to be little more than six whole months, but we have already collected a £5m loan fee from AC Milan in January (in addition to getting
some wage relief) to start offsetting that.
The clear winner in this whole sequence is of course superagent Jorge Mendes, who just keeps raking in the commissions on every transfer. Pretty good racket he’s got going here. And Félix is set to sign just at two-year contract with Al-Nassr, too.
Félix has been given permission to travel and was already spotted at Al-Nassr’s training facilities on Sunday, so barring any major late drama, this transfer should be officially official very soon.
