The rumors and spoilers were out. Now, it is official. Tony Khan posted the All Elite graphic to announce that Ace Austin has signed with AEW.
Ace commented on social media:
“Not a matter of if, but when..
The best is yet to come. Bet on that.
Thank you Tony. Let’s get to work!
INEVITABLE”
The three-time X-Division champion
was a free agent from TNA. Ace happened to be in the area as an Ohio native for the Collision taping in Cincinnati. That led to a challenge from Ricochet in the parking lot.
Ace styled on the bald man. The crowd may have unintentionally hurt Ace by making fun of Ricochet’s follicle growth, or rather lack thereof. Ricochet responded by stepping on Ace’s hair. The newcomer had momentum down the stretch on a fancy tijeras takedown off the turnbuckles. GOA was ringside. Ace was no dummy though. He took the initiative for a dive outside. Back inside the ring, Ace lifted Ricochet into a fireman’s carry position. Ricochet escaped by gouging the eyes and pulling the hair. The Spirit Gun sealed the deal. GOA rubbed it in with a hard double-team slam on Ace after the match.
It was a solid effort from Ace, even though, his debut ended in defeat.
