night descends into lower manhattan. the ground shakes beneath me.
only recently i was in a place of music and light. but here i am, walking up park ave completely (alone)
i don’t hear the traffic or passers-by. i only hear the flatline running through my mind.
i walk north
and sit on a bench in bryant park. a rat scurries by.
i celebrate its life
and gaze at the lights illuminating h&m to my left.
i skulk towards grand central station.
the train carries me forward, forward, forward.
i try to go back, but
i can’t. have i blocked it, or has the blade simply rusted?
