Billy Joe DuPree played tight end for the Dallas Cowboys

from 1973 to 1983, after being drafted in the first round out of Michigan State. DuPree became one of the first modern-era tight ends to combine blocking and receiving into one complete package. A three-time Pro Bowler, he played in three Super Bowls, helping Dallas win Super Bowl XII. Known for his reliability, toughness, and leadership, DuPree was a consistent presence in the Cowboys’ offense throughout the 1970s and early ’80s, rarely missing a start during his 11-year career.

Best known for:
DuPree was best known for being one of the first standout tight ends in Cowboys history, contributing as both a blocker and a pass-catcher during an era when the position was beginning to evolve.

Lesser known fact:
DuPree is great uncle to Tyler DuPree who plays rugby in England for the Wigan Warriors, and has won many accolades in the English division.
