My favorite (American) football team just won the Super Bowl. A guiding philosophy of their young head coach is “stacking”: stacking opportunities, stacking good plays, stacking good decisions … stacking wins.
It’s not a unique or revolutionary idea — not sure there are any truly revolutionary ideas left in motivating professional athletes — but it plays on the idea of taking things one game, one play, one decision at a time. Make enough good plays, and you’re likely to win. Win enough games, and you’re likely to tame home the big prize. And so on.
Chelsea have won four Premier League games in a row under new head coach Liam Rosenior, who’s marking one month in charge this weekend. It’s been a good start, but we need that continue. We need to keep stacking wins.
Tomorrow night is a great chance to do that, with relegation-battling Leeds United coming to town. There’s historic rivalry vibes here as well of course, not to mention a bit of revenge from getting smacked up at Elland Road earlier this season.
There’s some good news regarding injuries, with Andrey Santos apparently not too worse off after being forced off with an ankle issue on Saturday. And both Reece James and Tosin Adarabioyo may be available after illness and injury, respectively.
