Darren Till is set to face Luke Rockhold in a bridgerweight title fight, while Tony Ferguson crosses over to influencer boxing for a fight against Salt Papi, at Misfits Boxing 22 scheduled on Aug. 30 from the AO Arena in Manchester.
Misfits boxing announced the matchups on Wednesday.
Till makes his third appearance under the Misfits banner when he returns in August after scoring wins over a pair of MMA veterans in Anthony Taylor and Darren Stewart. The veteran middleweight has focused primarily on boxing
ever since asking for his release from the UFC.
Now he’ll face a former UFC champion in Rockhold as he makes his move into boxing after competing in the UFC, Strikeforce, BKFC and even Karate Combat.
While things didn’t work out too well for Rockhold in BKFC after he suffered a loss to Mike Perry in his one and only bare-knuckle fight, he returned to form with a stunning knockout over Joe Schilling in his Karate Combat debut this past April. Rockhold debuts with Misfits while facing off with Till in a title fight at bridgerweight — a weight class set between 200 and 224 pounds — in the main event.
As for Ferguson, the former interim UFC lightweight champion has been teasing his interest in potentially crossing over the boxing and now he’ll get his chance.
Ferguson left the UFC on an eight-fight skid but never really contemplated retirement after initially signing with the Global Fight League before that promotion tanked prior to its debut show. He continued pursuing different options and eventually landed on boxing with an interim middleweight title going up for grabs in his fight.
He faces Salt Papi — a well-known figure in the influencer boxing game after he made waves with a couple of nasty knockouts early in his career before dealing with some adversity including back-to-back losses. Since then, he’s bounced back with three straight wins including a knockout at Misfits 19 this past November.
Till vs. Rockhold and Ferguson vs. Salt Papi headline the Misfits Boxing 22 card, which is set to air on DAZN in the United States.
