Gonzaga legend Drew Timme is showing out in the NBA Summer League, averaging 26.0 points on a 62.2 field goal percentage, 7.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.0 steals through two games, which ranks second in the entire showcase. The 6-10 forward easily looks like the best player out on the floor, with this being his third summer league appearance. He made possibly the play of the summer with a between-the-legs pass and then the poster slam on Washington Wizards forward/center Alex Sarr.
During his 30-point
scoring affair against the Wizards, he was receiving loud ‘MVP’ chants from the crowd at the UNLV Runnin’ Rebels’ Thomas & Mack Center.

Even ESPN personality Kendrick Perkins and his fellow Brooklyn teammate and guard Egor Demin can’t believe their own eyes when watching what he’s been able to put together this summer.
Drew Timme should be on some body roster getting quality minutes!!!! And I mean in the rotation heavy.

“Man, he’s an amazing player. This is crazy. I think guys from other teams underestimate him. He proves them wrong... I hear stories from people who know him from Gonzaga about him being annoyingly good. These two games, he’s been annoyingly good.” - Egor Demin on Drew Timme via ClutchPoints’ Erik Slater
The talent level at the summer league might be a bit below Timme, and don’t be surprised if Brooklyn’s front office decides to shut him down early and keep him healthy for training camp in the fall. If they don’t, Timme would easily be the favorite to be named the Most Valuable Player in Las Vegas. One of the most accomplished college basketball players of all time continues to show that he deserves a lengthy career in the NBA.
“That hasn’t quite been the narrative since I left college, that I can play in the league and deserve a spot. To kind of see that narrative change, it’s good because you’ve seen what people say about you earlier.” - Drew Timme on Kendrick Perkins’ X post via ClutchPoints’ Erik Slater
The next opportunity for Timme to suit up for the Nets is when they go up against forward Anton Watson and the New York Knicks at 3 p.m. PT on ESPN2 on Tuesday, July 15th.
