Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the MLB. Throughout the year we ask questions of the most plugged-in Pittsburgh Pirates fans and fans across the country. Sign up here to participate in the weekly emailed surveys.
The Buccos took right-handed pitcher Seth Hernandez on Sunday in the first round of the 2025 MLB Draft. He was considered the top righty in the MLB Draft. Some considered the prep player as potentially the best player in the draft, with a fastball already in the triple
digits as well mixing in a change up, curveball and a slider. The Pirates organization said they felt lucky to draft him at six.
However, it’s well-known that the Pirates need some more offense. Some observers feel the Bucs have enough young pitching talent (and they do have a ton) and they should be filling the system with some more young hitting talent. Even though anyone drafted (especially someone as young as Hernandez) won’t be helping right away, there is an argument to be made that the Bucs should be doing anything possible to get more bats.
Anyway, this week’s poll is: Give the draft pick a grade.
Thanks for voting. We’ll be back soon with results.
