Dominik Mysterio shocked the AAA faithful with a surprise appearance to set up a huge match for Triplemania.
The scene began with Hijo Del Vikingo solo in the ring at the TV taping in Mexico City on Friday night (July 25, 2025). The mega champion acknowledged the mixed reaction from the crowd. Even though Vikingo doesn’t have the full approval of the fans, there is a percent that supports him. He wrestles with pride to be Mexican. Vikingo claimed
to be the best mega champion that AAA has had. His first title run lasted 833 days before vacating due to injury. Vikingo then issued an open challenge.
Dragon Lee answered the call. The fans went bonkers for his surprise appearance. Dragon Lee agreed that Vikingo beat everyone in line when he was champion, but Dragon Lee wasn’t in that line. Vikingo has never beaten him. Dragon Lee believes that he is the man to take AAA to the next level in the future. He proposed the title match for Triplemania to find out who is the best,
That would have been a badass singles match on its own, but the story wasn’t over.
El Grande Americano interrupted to insult Vikingo and Dragon Lee. Despite the rude attitude, the fans still chanted, “Grande,” louder than, “Dragon.” Vikingo and Dragon Lee heard enough trash talk and clotheslined El Grande Americano out of the ring.
That’s when a mysterious masked man (hooligan style, not luchador mask) ambushed the tecnicos in the ring. The intruder revealed himself as Dominik Mysterio. The crowd exploded with excitement. Mysterio cleared the ring and cut a promo in Spanish. AAA will crown a new king of the luchadores at Triplemania. Dom stood tall and walked out with the Mega Championship.
AAA made the match official. Hijo del Vikingo will defend the Megacampeonato in a four-way against Dragon Lee, El Grande Americano, and Dominik Mysterio at Triplemania XXXIII on August 16 in Mexico City.
