With the No. 330 selection in the 2025 MLB Draft, the St. Louis Cardinals picked Texas Longhorns shortstop Jalin Flores.

The 6’2, 210-pounder has one season of eligibility remaining, but is expected to sign — the Longhorns have already landed a commitment from the presumed successor to Flores, Cardinal transfer Temo Becerra.

in the 2022 recruiting class, Flores opted to forgo professional opportunities and play at Texas, where he struggled as a freshman, batting .175 with 19 runs, two doubles, four home runs and 23 RBI in 45 games, including 29 starts.

Flores broke out in 2024 with an All-American season, leading Texas in doubles (22), RBI (56), and hit by pitches (10) while tying for the team lead in home runs (18) and total bases (158), slashing .340/.408/.656.

As a draft-eligible sophomore, Flores was ranked as the No. 72 overall player by ESPN before opting to return to the Forty Acres to play for new head coach Jim Schlossnagle. It was a decision that didn’t pay off for Flores, who slashed .239/.317/.491 with 13 home runs and 54 RBI, including a .176 average against SEC opponents.
