After the 2025 MLB Draft included 12 current Texas Longhorns, transfer portal commits, and high school signees coming off the board, those draftees are beginning to sign their professional contracts ahead of next Monday’s deadline.

Here’s where things stand.

Temecula (Calif.) Great Oaks 3B Gavin Fien — No. 12 to the Texas Rangers

After the Rangers selected Fien among the first picks in the draft, the high school shortstop quickly made clear his intentions to sign. That officially happened on Tuesday after Fien and his representation agreed to a a $4.8 million deal, almost

$1 million below slot value.

The Rangers have now introduced Fien, who alsowent t hrough batting practice at Globe Life Field on Tuesday.

San Antonio Johnson SS Kayson Cunningham — No. 18 to the Arizona Diamondbacks

Cunningham signed with the Diamonbacks on Sunday for $4.6 million, the full slot value of his selection.

RF Max Belyeu — No. 74 to the Colorado Rockies

Beyleu officially joined former teammate Jared Thomas in the Rockies organization on Monday after signing for $1.1 million, the full slot value of his selection.

Butler transfer OF Jack Moroknek — No. 321 by the Washington Nationals

One of the biggest surprises of the draft — and biggest disappointments, from the perspective of Texas head coach Jim Schlossnagle — was the selection of Moroknek by the Nationals a month after his commitment to the Longhorns from the transfer portal.

Moroknek quickly changed his Instagram profile to a picture in a Nationals hat, an indication of his signability confirmed on Monday by the organization without any indication of his contract value.

LHP Jared Spencer — No. 322 to the Toronto Blue Jays

Injury concerns after Spencer’s season-ending shoulder surgery resulted in a significant fall for the Indiana State transfer, who was ranked as the No. 128 overall prospect in the draft by ESPN.

As a senior, Spencer didn’t have any negotiating leverage to return to school, signing with the Blue Jays on Sunday for $165,000.

SS Jalin Flores — No. 330 to the St. Louis Cardinals

Struggles as a junior caused Flores to drop past his draft ranking of No. 221 by ESPN, coming off the board to the Cardinals in the 11th round. Flores signed with the Cardinals for $175,000.

Mississippi State LHP Luke Dotson — No. 333 to the Arizona Diamondbacks

Another transfer portal addition for Texas, Dotson seemed like a relatively low-risk addition as a draft-eligible sophomore, but his upside resulted in a significant investment by the Diamondbacks, which signed the 11th-round selection to a $500k contract on Sunday, equivalent to the slot value of an early fifth-round pick.

C Rylan Galvan — No. 375 to the Chicago White Sox

The top-200 prospect by MLB.com suffered a bit of a fall in the draft and has some negotiating leverage with a year of eligibility remaining. As of Wednesday afternoon, Galvan has not yet signed, but is expected to do so before the deadline with Texas landing star Notre Dame catcher Carson Tinney in the transfer portal.

On Thursday, a report from Corpus Christi indicated that Galvan has signed with the White Sox.

Texas announced Galvan’s deal on Friday.

Plano Prestonwood Christian LHP Xavier Mitchell — No. 379 to the Los Angeles Angels

The top-ranked pitcher in the draft among the Texas signees received a major commitment from the Angels organization, signing last week for $900k, equivalent to the slot value of the No. 90 pick in the draft.

Georgia State transfer UTIL Kaleb Freeman — No. 466 to the Chicago White Sox

The Texas transfer portal class took its third and final hit when the White Sox picked Freeman in the 16th round. Freeman signed a day later for $150k.

RHP Grayson Saunier — No. 516 to the Houston Astros

As of Wednesday afternoon, there aren’t any reports that Saunier has officially signed with the Astros, but he did post an apparent goodbye to Texas on Instagram last week.
