With B1G Media Days coming up, the conference has announced their Preseason Poll and their Preseason All-Conference Team to kick off the 2025 Volleyball season.

While the reigning National Champion in Penn State comes from the B1G this season, a lot of eyes, maybe even all, will be on the Huskers and what they will do this season after John Cook’s retirement. This will be the first year, since 2000, that the Huskers will be led by someone other than Cook. Dani Busboom-Kelly will look to live up to the legacy

that Cook left behind.

The B1G coaches sure seem to think Busboom-Kelly will live up to it as the Huskers were voted to finish 1st in the conference beating out Penn State.

Penn State, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and UCLA round out the top 5 finishers in the conference in the poll.

Oregon is probably the team that fell the most in the polls as they had lots of turnaround this off season. Their head coach, Matt Ulmer, left for the open position at Kansas and Mimi Coyler left for fellow B1G foe, Wisconsin. They had multiple other losses, but Ulmer and Coyler were probably the most impactful.

2025 B1G Preseason Poll:

1. Nebraska
2. Penn State
3. Wisconsin
4. Minnesota
5. UCLA
6. USC
7. Purdue
8. Washington
9. Illinois
10. Michigan
11. Indiana
12. Oregon
13. Ohio State
14. Michigan State
15. Northwestern
16. Maryland
17. Iowa
18. Rutgers

Nebraska tied for the most picks on the Preseason All-Conference Team list. The choices were really no surprise for Husker fans. Rebekah Allick was the lone senior chosen from the Husker squad. 3 of the 4 Juniors were selected as well as Harper Murray, Andi Jackson, and Bergen Reilly received preseason honors.

Five members were also chosen unanimously and 3 of the 5 were Huskers. Murray, Jackson, and Reilly were chosen along with Kennedy Martin and Izzy Starck from Penn State.

Reilly was the 2024 B1G Setter of the Year while Murray and Jackson were part of the All-B1G First Team last season. Starck was the 2024 B1G Freshman of the Year and National Freshman of the Year. Martin is a 1st year player in the B1G after spending her first few seasons at Florida. She was a 2024 All-American and an All-SEC First Team member.

The Huskers lineup will remain a mystery until their first match on Friday, August 22nd against Pitt at Pinnacle Bank Arena. No one can begin to guess who will get the nod since they have such a powerful roster, once again, this year.
