It's been rumored for some time, but Friday Major League Baseball made if official: The Cubs and Wrigley Field will welcome MLB's All-Star Game to Chicago two summers from now, Tuesday, July 13, 2027.
Cubs executive chairman Tom Ricketts and President of Business Operations Crane Kenney represented the team at a ceremony that included Commissioner Rob Manfred and Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson.

Manfred made the official announcement and praised the team and city for their
preparations in advance of the game.
Kenney noted that Wrigley Field will become the first ballpark to host four All-Star games.
Ricketts paid tribute to Ryne Sandberg, who he noted played in the 1990 game, the most recent such Midsummer Classic at the Friendly Confines.
In addition to the ASG, Wrigley will host the MLB Futures Game and the Home Run Derby.
Congratulations to everyone involved in getting the All-Star Game to Wrigley Field for the first time in 37 years. I have been to seven All-Star Games, including that 1990 contest, and look forward to attending in 2027.
