Aline Pereira has joined big brother Alex Pereira in the champion’s circle.
Karate Combat crowned a flyweight queen Saturday in Miami as Pereira won a unanimous decision over Fani Peloumpi in the evening’s co-main event to claim the vacant title. In her corner was Alex, the former two-division UFC champion, and coach Plinio Cruz.
Watch Pereira celebrate with her team below.
Pereira, 34, was heavily favored heading
into Karate Combat 56 coming off of knockout wins in her first two outings for the promotion. Unsurprisingly, one of Pereira’s weapons of choice has been the left hook, which Alex has also used to great effect in his UFC career.
The world of MMA hasn’t been as kind to Pereira as she’s just 1-2 under that rule set, but she has made a home for herself in Karate Combat and can now proudly call herself one of the faces of the promotion.
