After the unsuccessful pursuit of multiple left-wingers, Bayern Munich has been laser-focused on completing the signing of 28-year-old Colombia international Luis Díaz, a target who initially seemed unattainable thanks to Liverpool’s resistance to sell.

However, according to journalist Lewis Steele (via @iMiaSanMia), it now looks as if Arne Slot’s Liverpool are willing to let Díaz go, but only for a “massive” offer.

not now that he will leave Liverpool. LFC won’t stand in his way, but the offer has to be ‘massive’. Bayern is by far Diaz’s most likely destination

Liverpool’s willingness to negotiate doesn’t mean Bayern are likely to get the former FC Porto player on a discount price, evident after Die Rekordmeister’s opening bid of £58.5m was rejected immediately.

Liverpool are indeed looking for a “massive” transfer fee if they are to part with Díaz, reportedly around the tune of £86m.

The clear gap between Bayern and Liverpool’s valuation of Díaz, the Merseyside team’s hard ball negotiation tactics combined with no need to sell an attacker, especially following the tragic passing of Diogo Jota, could prove to be a major obstacle in the winger’s path to Munich.

Respect to Díaz, but is Bayern really going to break the bank for a player who will turn 29 in just under six months?

Well, at this point, it’s looking more and more likely, provided Bayern are willing to spend a pretty penny.
