According to a report from transfer journalist Nicolò Schira, RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Šeško has reached an agreement Newcastle United on personal terms. The two clubs, however, would need to come to accord on a transfer fee:
Benjamin #Sesko has an agreement in principle with #Newcastle for a contract until 2030. #NUFC are now working to reach a deal with #Leipzig. #transfers
Not so fast, though. Other reports indicate that no agreement has been reached and that talks are still ongoing:

⚫️ Newcastle United have now entered into negotiations with Benjamin Sesko’s agents. The club and the player’s camp are in talks. Despite other reports, there is, according to our information, no fundamental verbal agreement yet. However, the Magpies are seriously pushing! Should an agreement be reached, Newcastle will then approach RB Leipzig. They continue to demand a package of around €80 million. @SkySportDE
Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg
⤵️ There is currently no agreement between Newcastle and Benjamin #Sesko — not even a principle one.
#NUFC are in talks with the player’s camp, with RB Leipzig have not received an offer yet. The situation also depends on what happens with Alexander Isak.
To complicate matters further, Plettenberg also captured information stating that Manchester United is now also firmly in the running for the Slovenian:
Manchester United and Newcastle are currently in talks with Benjamin #Sesko‘s management.
Both teams have presented their projects and financial offers. #MUFC
The decision now lies mainly with the player and his camp. Offers are expected to be formally submitted to RB Leipzig following the verbal agreement. However, #NUFC pushing a lot.
Where things could turn in favor of Newcastle is if Alexander Isak leaves for Liverpool FC, which is expected to happen in the coming weeks. At that point, the Magpies might be inclined to ramp up their interest in Šeško.
At one point, Šeško was a transfer target for Bayern Munich.
