There is major contract extension news to report regarding the Seattle Seahawks.
FOX Sports’ Jay Glazer reported on Wednesday that Seahawks general manager John Schneider has been given another contract extension that will last into the start of 2030s.
Scoopage: continuity in Seattle, the Seahawks have given John Schneider a four year extension keeping their President of Football Operations/GM through the 2030 draft. This will take him through at least his 20th draft with the organization @NFLonFOX

Schneider’s previous extension took him through the 2027 NFL Draft.
This is a major vote of confidence by ownership in Schneider, who has full front office reins after Pete Carroll’s departure at the end of the 2023 season. Schneider was hired by Carroll as general manager in 2010, forming a partnership that created undoubtedly the greatest era of Seahawks football, culminating in the franchise’s first ever Super Bowl victory in the 2013 season.
There have been rocky moments during Schneider’s tenure (while Carroll was still the coach and in charge of football operations), particularly through some less-than-stellar drafts, free agent classes, and big trades that didn’t pan out as the Seahawks dropped off from the top of the NFL pyramid. However, the Seahawks have never had fewer than seven wins in a season with Schneider as GM, and there is significant optimism abound following a major influx of quality young talent through recent drafts, the hiring of Mike Macdonald as head coach, and the possibility of a long-term answer at quarterback with the third-round selection of Jalen Milroe. Heck, if Sam Darnold actually proves to be more than a one-season wonder and is a high-level QB moving forward, he’s still 28 years old and may also be a solution.
We’ll soon find out if the Schneider/Macdonald partnership ends up being a terrific successor to the Carroll/Schneider years.
