The Jays have four games in Detroit.
The Tigers are 60-43 this season, first in the AL Central. They would be a half game behind the Jays. But they are only 7-11 in July (hmmmm slurpees, be right back).
Their pitching hasn’t been great of late. 5.08 ERA in July and they haven’t been hitting, .215/.301/.362 in July.
Of course, this could all change in this series.
There are a few injury updates:
- Daulton Varsho is to play in Buffalo tomorrow.Pax
- Yimi Garcia and Nick Sandlin have had cortisone shots, which means they won’t be pitching for a few days.
- Andres Gimenez is in Toronto and did the run progression thing and they say all went well.
- Paxton Schultz well throw Saturday.
- Anthony Santander is heading to Florida. I was going to joke that he won the fishing trip with Buck on the Jays Care Auction, but I don’t think Buck’s up to fishing. I hope he is doing ok.
- Alek Manoah is throwing a simulated game Saturday.
And former Jay Jesse Chavez announced his retirement. Jesse came to us in one of the worst trades in Jays’ history
with Liam Hendriks going to Oakland. If you’ve been with us for a while, you’ll remember that Matt W was livid when that trade was made. He was right.
The fun police patrol minor league games.
Let me guess... The umpire who ejected the kid was a Rangers fan. https://t.co/rpnqdcb25I
