Although most leagues are still on a break due to international duty, soccer in Mexico is picking up steam now that we’re headed into week 3 of the Apertura tournament.

Eagles and Chivas on top

Although Club América and Guadalajara are sworn enemies and don’t like to share anything, they’re sharing the same spot in the table.

Both teams are the only ones that have won both their games played. However, América has a better goal difference, but Chivas has conceded 0 goals so far.

can be divided into four more different sections. Following those at top, Tigres, León, Juárez, and Toluca have four points each, having gotten a draw and a win in the past two weeks.

After that, we have Pachuca and Pumas, which have played only one game and won it.

Then we have Cruz Azul, Monterrey and Necaxa, which have won one and lost one. All of them have three points.

And regarding Cruz Azul, it is noteworthy that they got the most emphatic win of week 2 after beating Atlas 4-0 with California native Aerial Chavarin scoring a hat trick and putting her at top of the top goalscorer’s table.

Following them, we have four teams with one point each and two games played - those are Santos Laguna, Querétaro, Club Tijuana and Atlas.

Lastly, there are Mazatlán, Atlético de San Luis and Puebla with zero points.

Eagles on duty

FC Barcelona is making its yearly trip to Mexico in August and everything is set for Club América to have the chance to face the best team in the world.

On August 24, the Eagles will have the privilege to measure against Liga F’s most successful team and see what they’re made of.

Although América is still dealing with important absences due to injuries, they can now count on players such as former Barcelona Bruna Vilamala in the forward line and Boston Legacy FC’s Annie Karich in the middle.

Besides that, defender Nikki Hernández had the chance to participate in the MLS All-Star Game, which featured guests from Mexico’s women's and men's leagues. Only two women were invited: Hernández had the chance to join the Liga MX team, while Lindsey Heaps joined the MLS squad.

Liga MX Femenil All Star Game

Just two days before Barcelona plays Club América, the Spanish team will face a team composed of Liga MX Femenil’s crème de la crème.

A total of 25 players were chosen based on their performance last tournament and all the league’s 18 teams will be represented by at least one player for that match. Additionally, five more players will be chosen to participate, three will be chosen by the fans and two more will be revealed in the following days.

The chosen players can be seen below:
