We all knew it was a matter of time, but it’s finally official: Quarterback Philip Rivers is retiring as a member of the Chargers.
Rivers made the announcement in a video posted on the Chargers official X account.
Prepare yourself and grab some tissues because this was a ton of fun watch, but get ready for some waterworks:

Rivers played 16 seasons for the Chargers from 2004-2019. He ended his career as the franchise’s all-time leader in passing yards
(63,440), passing touchdowns (421), attempts (8,134), and completions (5,277).
In his first year as the starter in 2006, Rivers helped lead the Chargers to a 14-2 record (the team’s best record this century) and a trip to the AFC Championship Game. Rivers would help lead the Bolts to the postseason five more times in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2013, and 2018.
Rivers was named to the Pro Bowl eight times during his career (2006, 2009-2011, 2013, 2016-2018) and won Comeback Player of the Year in 2013. In 2008, Rivers was co-leader in touchdown passes during the season and the outright leader in passer rating. The following year, Rivers was named to the Chargers 50th Anniversary Team. In 2010, Rivers led the league in passing yards. Three seasons later, he led the league in completion percentage.
