Earlier this week, TNA President Carlos Silva heavily teased AJ Styles’ return to TNA by stating that this Sunday’s (July 20) Slammiversary pay-per-view will be “PHENOMENAL.” Follow-up reporting based on sources in WWE claims there has “absolutely been talk” of that happening.

Now, a new report from The Takedown on SI indicates that AJ is indeed expected to make an appearance on Sunday at the UBS Arena in Long Island, New York, for Slammiversary:

“The Takedown has learned that a potential Styles appearance

at Slammiversary has been in the works for some time now and was a top priority for the upper brass within TNA. The expectation among several members of the roster is that he will indeed be at UBS Arena for Slammiversary in some capacity.”

Styles’ long-awaited return to TNA is something plenty of fans have hoped for since at least January when WWE announced a “historic multi-year partnership” with TNA that includes “unprecedented crossover” appearances. As a result, WWE’s relationship with TNA has never been stronger. NXT star Trick Williams is even the current TNA world champion, so at this point I think it’s inevitable that AJ will return there for at least one appearance.

It sounds like that return will happen on Sunday, so now we can speculate on whether he’ll be there to kick some ass, or just talk on the mic. Who knows, maybe Styles has changed his tune on going into the TNA Hall of Fame.

Do you plan to order or attend TNA Slammiversary to (hopefully) see the return of AJ Styles? Let me know in the comments below, Cagesiders.
