Dustin Poirier is no longer a UFC fighter,
The former UFC Lightweight interim champion and fan favorite has been in the game an awful long time, but that chapter in his life came to an end following a unanimous decision loss to longtime respected rival Max Holloway at UFC 318 (watch highlights). Poirier retired that evening in his home state of Louisiana with his head held high despite the defeat, leaving behind a proud legacy of integrity and amazing fights.
So ... what’s next?
If Poirier wants to
avoid the pitfalls of a failed MMA retirement, he’ll have to stay busy. Fortunately, Poirier has long been more than just a fighter. In addition to being a husband and father, Poirier founded The Good Fight Foundation in 2018 to help feed families facing food insecurity, as well as help children in poverty around the globe.
In a recent post on X, however, Poirier revealed his first post-retirement career move. He wants to return to the broadcast booth and focus on his ESPN desk analyst work, so fight fans who will miss seeing his fights will still get a piece of “The Diamond.”
Looking forward to getting back on the ESPN desk going to start focusing on that now.

“Looking forward to getting back on the ESPN desk going to start focusing on that now.”
Maybe we’ll even see Poirier on the commentary crew with Joe Rogan some day? Then we might finally find out the reason for Rogan’s UFC 318 absence!
