In addition to his social media post last Thursday, the day of Terry “Hulk Hogan” Bollea’s death, Ric Flair has been making media appearances to talk about his late friend & colleague.
Those rounds took him to The Ariel Helwani Show today (July 28).
Flair spoke about Hogan and his death, and a little about the health challenges he’s faced in lately — including being diagnosed with and successfully treated for skin cancer this year.
“Here I am, I’m five years older than Hulk and I don’t hurt at all.
ADI’ve had some serious health issues, but I don’t have an ache or pain in my body. And it bothers me and of course it gives me anxiety that I could be next [laughs]. So I’m glad anytime I can talk about how great Hulk is and spend time talking about his life, his legacy with you guys. I’m honored.”
Two of the biggest stars of not only their era, but any era of professional wrestling, Hogan and Flair crossed paths often in their careers, probably most notably in WCW. The 76-year-old Flair said he last saw Hulk two weeks ago on a FaceTime video call. He said he knew at the time Hogan’s health wasn’t great, but didn’t think the issues were as bad as rumored. Last week Jimmy Hart, who has also shared some details of his last interactions with Hogan and what he knew about his condition, and another friend of Hogan’s gave Flair a positive update on Hulk’s condition.
Asked how he’s doing now with a few days to process Hogan’s death, Flair said he’s “doing much better”. Of Hulk, he said:
“I think he just got tired. I mean, 11 back operations, hip replacements, now a neck surgery. I mean, how much can your body take, you know? We’ve all put ourselves in ridiculous positions in the business.”
