Barcelona defender Pau Cubarsi has hinted that there will be a few changes to the team’s tactics in the new 2025-26 season.
The Catalan giants head into the campaign after winning La Liga, Copa del Rey and Spanish Super Cup titles last season.
The Champions League will be the big focus in 2025-26, following last season’s semi-final exit at the hands of Inter.
Cubarsi has been asked about the coming season, and particularly the team’s high defensive line, and hinted that there may be a few tweaks.
“It’s
ADthe philosophy they’ve instilled in us,” he told TV3. “Maybe not as exaggerated as last year, but certainly the same style.”
The Barca center-back also said his team must step up if they are to build on last season’s success.
”Flick tells us to be ourselves and stay calm. We have the confidence we had last season, and now we have to step it up a gear,” he told TV3.
“He’s a coach with a lot of character and a clear mindset, and things are going very well at this club because we’re all focused, mentally focused for the 90 minutes. We have to be focused under pressure.”
Barcelona are currently preparing for the new season on tour in Asia. They kick off their La Liga campaign against Real Mallorca on August 16-17.
