What's Happening?
The LSU Tigers are sending eleven athletes to the 2026 NFL Combine in Indianapolis, despite a challenging 2025 season. Among the invitees is quarterback Garrett Nussmeier, who had a standout performance
at the Senior Bowl and is recovering from a core/ab injury. Nussmeier, who threw for over 7,000 yards during his time at LSU, is looking to improve his draft stock. Other notable players include wide receivers Aaron Anderson, Barion Brown, Chris Hilton Jr., and Zavion Thomas, as well as cornerback Mansoor Delane, a unanimous All-America selection. LSU is tied with Ohio State for the third-most athletes invited to the Combine, trailing only Alabama and Texas A&M.
Why It's Important?
The participation of eleven LSU players in the NFL Combine highlights the program's ability to develop NFL-caliber talent, even in a season that did not meet expectations. This presence at the Combine can enhance the players' visibility and potentially improve their draft positions, which is crucial for their professional careers. For LSU, this serves as a testament to the strength of their recruitment and training programs, maintaining the school's reputation as a breeding ground for professional football talent. The success of these players in the draft could also positively impact LSU's future recruitment efforts.
What's Next?
The NFL Combine will take place from February 23 to March 2, where the LSU players will participate in various drills and interviews. Their performances will be closely watched by NFL scouts and executives, which could significantly influence their draft positions. Following the Combine, the players will continue to prepare for the NFL Draft, scheduled for late April. LSU's coaching staff and athletic department will likely use the outcomes to bolster their recruitment strategies and program development.
