35’ - Ooh chance! Garner with a delightful cross into the box that Beto, instead of slamming home first time, tried to corral and shot, and misjudged the ball and kicked a United defender instead giving away a foul.
30’ - Apologies for the late start to the blog, got held up in a family activity. United lead from an 18th minute penalty by Bruno Fernandes after James Tarkowski was adjudged
to have fouled Amad Diallo in the box, pulling the player back. Beto had rounded the keeper to score in the 15th minute, but that goal was disallowed for a very narrow offside ruling. Before that in the 7th minute Garner had seen his direct freekick saved with O’Brien then hitting the post with the rebound.

Everton haven’t made any new signings in a few days and once again the fanbase is getting restless. Meanwhile, manager David Moyes has continued to bang the drum about needing more players, which has led the supporters to start wondering if there is a rift between him and the rest of the club’s leadership, or even with owners The Friedkin Group? Idle minds will lead to more of this kind of chatter, so the sooner the Toffees get Tyler Dibling, Juanlu Sanchez or anyone else signed up the better, really.
On the pitch though, we will be looking for a debut showing by Adam Anzou, more gametime for Thierno Barry and overall better cohesion and tactical understanding amongst the team.
They will be playing a high-flying Manchester United team that is daring to dream again after beating West Ham and then AFC Bournemouth in convincing manner. Ruben Amorim looks to have established his system a bit more with a summer under his belt, and should United be able to spend some money then they should be back in the top ten sooner than later.
