If reports out of Germany are to be believed, Luis Diaz could be the second notable outgoing from Arne Slot’s Premier League winning side this summer.
According to Christian Falk of Bild Sport, Diaz has agreed to a 4-year deal to join Bayern Munich, and is set to earn £230,000 a week if the deal goes through. Although Barcelona was reportedly his preferred destination, I guess the Bavarian Giants were able to sell the Colombian on the project (well that and a heap of cash).
Bayern apparently have a need
for a left-sided attacker and money to burn for reasons.
From Liverpool’s perspective, the stance on Diaz has been clear for months: pay our asking price or get the fuck out. According to separate reports yesterday, Bayern are now prepared to pay upwards of €80 million for Diaz, which is close enough to Liverpool’s stated valuation of the player to be considered a serious offer, should it come.
However, neither Bayern nor Barcelona have officially offered anywhere near Liverpool’s valuation for the player.
One one hand, if Bayern are already briefing the media on coming to an agreement on terms, they must be confident that they can also come to terms with Liverpool. On the other, Bayern were openly confident about signing Florian Wirtz, and we know how that worked out.
