Bayern to chase Woltemade this summer on cut rate deal (Football Insider)
Is Newcastle United looking to cut its losses with former Bayern Munich transfer target Nick Woltemade already?
Maybe.
Per one report, Newcastle United is unhappy with Woltemade’s poor form and could be
willing to sell him for less than they bought him for last summer:
Newcastle United will look to sell Nick Woltemade this summer amid interest from Bayern Munich, sources have told Football Insider.
The German giants have set their sights on the striker, 23, as a player who could come in and improve their attack, but they would only be willing to do a deal at a cut-price fee. Sources say the Bayern valuation of Woltemade is around £30-40million, which is some way less than the £69m Newcastle paid last summer.
Gabby Agbonlahor tore into Woltemade for his performance in Newcastle’s recent Carabao Cup defeat to Manchester City, and criticism has become more common towards the striker in recent weeks. The former Stuttgart man initially made an electric start to his time on Tyneside, as he scored five goals in his first six games for his new club at the start of the season.
However, that has become a distant memory for the frontman, whose double in the draw with Chelsea on 20 December are his only league goals since November. Woltemade is now goalless in his last 13 games in all competitions, and many of those appearances have come from the bench, with Yoane Wissa now fit to cause a headache for Howe at the top of the pitch.
Man, you gotta love Schmankerl stories.
Anyway, this would be a radical move and it seems very unlikely to happen, but maybe — just maybe — it is worth putting in our back pocket to think about later if Woltemade continues his skid.
Aseko Nkili to West Ham? (West Ham Zone)
It seems like Bayern Munich is leaning toward bringing back Noel Aseko Nkili after the season, but there could also be a lot of interest in the young midfielder:
West Ham have been linked with a move for Bayern Munich youngster Noel Aseko amid an impressive loan at Hannover 96. According to Transfermarkt, Bayern are deciding what to do about Aseko, 20, as he makes great strides at 2.Bundesliga side Hannover.
The report states that Bayern rejected two offers in the winter transfer window for the Germany Under-21 international; one from Galatasaray and the other from a Bundesliga team. Aseko, who the report states is “often compared to N’Golo Kante”, is said to be wanted by West Ham and Brighton, along with three unnamed German top-flight clubs. West Ham are said to have made their presence felt with regards to their interest.
Conversely, with midfielder Leon Goretzka set to leave the German giants this summer, that could present an opportunity for Aseko, who is also on Villarreal’s radar. The report adds that if the Berlin-born player does depart Vincent Kompany’s side this summer, the one certainty is that his transfer fee is “likely to skyrocket significantly and could go into the double-digit million range.
Eichhorn to Eintracht? (Bild via Get German Football News)
According to a report from Bild, Hertha Berlin midfielder could be headed to Eintracht Frankfurt, which is putting together a good, overall package for the youngster:

The 16-year-old has a release clause worth €10-12m.
Eichhorn would also likely be given a regular starting place in Albert Riera’s system.
Per a report we covered here, Bayern Munich made a swoop for Eichhorn in January, but acquiring him proved to be tough for the Bavarians, who cannot guarantee him playing time, let along a starting role.
Nübel too expensive for Bundesliga (Sport Bild’s Christian Falk)
Bayern Munich does not appear to be planning for a future that includes Alexander Nübel, who has barely been on the roster since joining the club back in 2020, and might be too expensive for VfB Stuttgart to keep any longer. In fact, he could be too expensive for any clubs in the Bundesliga:
✅ It is TRUE: Alexander Nübel is attracting interest from English and Italian clubs. This is very much Bayern Munich’s hope, as he has a very high salary (€10m in all) and the Bavarians are currently paying two-thirds of it (about €6.6m [£5.73m]). No one else in the Bundesliga could afford to pay him – not even VfB Stuttgart! In the past, there were always rumours around Nübel and the Premier League. Not quite in the range of a top six club, but around the midtable with outfits like Brighton and Hove Albion.
Everyone is searching, and Nübel would be prepared to make this step. He still hopes to be the future No.1 of the national team. At the moment, it’s Oliver Baumann (35), and Marc-André ter Stegen is injured again, which is a huge pity, as it means he’s unlikely to play a part in the upcoming World Cup this summer. This is the big chance for Alexander Nübel. In his view, a transfer to the Premier League could help him achieve this target.
Hepburn lands in Australia after extended hiatus (Celts Are Here)
It was not all that long ago that Barry Hepburn was considered to be a bright prospect at Bayern Munich.
Things, however, did not work out in the end for Hepburn as he left the club in August of 2024 and has been without a club ever since. Now, though, the Scot has landed on his feet…in Australia…in the 4th division:
Barry Hepburn’s career has taken quite the turn with the former Celtic and Bayern Munich winger now signing for a club in the fourth tier of Australian football.
The 21-year-old has joined Manningham United, bringing to an end an 18-month spell without a club after his contract with Bayern Munich was terminated in 2024.
Hepburn was not alone in making the bold move from Celtic to Germany. Liam Morrison also left Glasgow for Bayern Munich, although his career path has since diverged. Morrison is now back in Scotland and currently on loan at Aberdeen.
After a prolonged period without a club, simply getting back on the pitch and playing regular football will be the immediate priority for Hepburn; getting to live down under is a bonus too. At 21, there is still time for his career to reset, even if it now looks very different from what once seemed inevitable.
It is hard to be a footballer — very hard. While this might seems like a story of desperation, it really is a story of fight, will, and desire.
Good luck to Hepburn, it will be a long road with a lot of bumps, but everyone has to re-start somewhere.
