
Talks are continuing between Chelsea and RB Leipzig over the transfer of young attacking midfielder Xavi Simons, and it sounds like we’re making some progress.
Fabrizio Romano reports that negotiations are “progressing well” and heading in a “positive direction” (would they be progressing well if they were heading in a negative direction?). Romano adds that talks over personal terms are also “advanced”. The word of the day is advanced.
But things may not be all that advanced just yet as Simons is currently
playing in RB Leipzig’s preseason friendly against Toulouse. Leipzig are up 6-0 with nearly an hour gone, and Simons is still in there. I’m guessing his bags aren’t exactly packed.
The Bundesliga side are said to be pretty adamant about their €70m asking price (inclusive of options and any add-ons), so presumably we’re going to have to scrape together a package of at least amount if we want to get this done.
