Meanwhile, actual attention to (or care for) the on-field product is dwindling to a point not seen this early into a campaign since 2021. It’s just now mid-August, and the Minnesota Twins are 14.0 games back of the division-leading Detroit Tigers, are closer to the Chicago White Sox than they are to first place, and are the worst non-last-place team in the American League.

Even the more intriguing players on the 26-man roster — which now consists of depth pieces and lottery tryouts — are being replaced due to injury in favor of even depthier pieces, and more lotteritious players.

Twins placed Alan Roden on the injured list and called up James Outman from Triple-A St. Paul.Outman was acquired from the Dodgers for Brock Stewart at the trade deadline.
