Friday Feedbag: Most high-profile regular season Seattle Mariners game

WHAT'S THE STORY?

Hello and welcome back to FRIDAY FEEDBAG. Still getting used to that! But, I do really think THE FEED is a pretty fun feature and y’all have really taken to using it quite a bit. So, yay! It’s a neat way to post little baseball updates and other shenanigans.

This week I’ve got a few highlights to hit before we get to the prompts

  • Tomorrow, Saturday, August 16! The 4th Annual Tim Cantu MemoriaLL SoftbaLL game! All info is in the post here, but due to this wack-ass rain we’re having today and perhaps tomorrow, just wanted to let everyone know that we are planning to play unless it rains so much that the field is not usable or unsafe. The meet up at Growler Guys will happen rain or shine, of course, so make sure to plan on that even if it’s pouring out. Also, keep in mind I-5 North will be completely closed except for the northbound Express Lanes this weekend, so godspeed to you if you’re coming from the south end. Maybe leave now? Traffic sucks and I’m sorry.
  • So, anyways, moving along past things that are out of our control like the weather and traffic, today is then 13th anniversary of Felix’s Perfect Game and with every passing season it really feels more and more unlikely that any pitcher will ever do it again. Long live the King.
  • You may have forgotten about this, because I sure did and MLB has NOT done much to advertise at all it seems, but the Mariners are playing in Williamsport this Sunday as part of the 2025 Little League Classic. So, two afternoon games in Queens, New York City, and then both teams are off to Williamsport for Sunday’s game. And I guess it’s Players’ Weekend, too? So, look out for wacky uniforms, nicknames, bats, and cleats.

Okay, onto today’s prompt, which I will also post in THE FEED.

What is the most high-profile regular season game the Seattle Mariners have ever played in? By high-profile, I

mean most eyes on a regular season game. You can certainly make an argument for the one-game playoff in 1995 versus the Angels, but that’s not really the spirit of thing here. This came up today because of the Little League Classic this Sunday, so think more along the lines of that kind of game.

Okay, have a great weekend, hope to see many of y’all at softbaLL and/or Growler Guys, and let’s go Mariners!
