Ansu Fati moved from Barcelona to Monaco this summer on a season-long loan and will be hoping to impress with the Ligue 1 side.
However, he is yet to feature in pre-season for his new club. Monaco have played Cercle Brugge and Coventry so far and beaten both sides.
Manager Adi Hutter has been asked about Ansu’s lack of involvement and explained his plan for the Barcelona forward and fellow new arrival Paul Pogba.
“They’re still working on their muscles and doing physical exercises. We can’t compare
ADtheir recovery,” he told reporters.
“I think Ansu is a little closer to the team, but we need to increase his workload. In recent weeks in Barcelona, he hasn’t played much. He hasn’t been able to train as he should, so we’re trying to get him back in shape so he can be competitive.
“It doesn’t make sense to bring him back, as he runs the risk of injury with the fatigue he already has. We’re being cautious with both players.”
Monaco’s next pre-season friendly is against Nottingham Forest on Saturday. We’ll have to wait and see if Ansu is able to debut with his new club.
