NXT’s Darkstate invades TNA again and gets a match for Slammiversary

WHAT'S THE STORY?

TNA Wrestling

Darkstate is running amok in TNA. The group crashed Impact (July 17, 2025) again, and now they will have a match at the Slammiversary PPV on Sunday, July 20.

The Darkstate story began two weeks ago by attacking Matt Cardona. It carried over to NXT this week when the System targeted them.

As a viewer of TNA and not NXT, this didn’t make much sense. The System turned down Cardona’s plea for help last week,

and they sure wouldn’t do any favors for Joe Hendry or Mike Santana.

Thursday night’s episode of Impact, which was taped a few weeks before NXT aired, sort of smoothed the edges. The drama started when Darkstate made their presence felt by jumping the System. Through the magic of audio production, commentary claimed that this was retaliation for the NXT incident.

Later in the evening, Cardona called out Darkstate.

Darkstate obliged with a beatdown. Brian Myers ran in to help his old friend, but the numbers were too much. Eddie Edwards and Johnny Dango Curtis evened the odds with weapons.

TNA booked an 8-man tag team bout for Slammiversary. It will be Matt Cardona, Brian Myers, Eddie Edwards, & Johnny Dango Curtis against Osiris Griffin, Cutler James, Dion Lennox, & Saquon Shugars.

Slammiversary goes live on July 20 from UBS Arena on Long Island, NY. The show will stream on TNA+ (annual subscription or single event), TrillerTV, and other PPV outlets.
