The report attributes these price increases to fiscal and monetary interventions during the COVID-19 pandemic, the war in Ukraine, and recurring climate shocks. Global food price inflation rose from 2.3% in December 2020 to 13.6% in early 2023, with low-income countries experiencing inflation rates as high as 30% in May 2023.
