Loretta Pitts-Whittler, a beloved member of her community, passed away on July 24, 2025, at Methodist Southlake Campus. Born to Othello Sr. and Mildred Lipscomb-Pitts, she was the fourth of twelve children. Loretta graduated from Roosevelt High School and was married to Sylvester Whittler Jr. for over 50 years. She worked at Theodosia’s Elbow Room restaurant for 12 years and later at Per Pak in Rensselaer. Her life was marked by a tragic car accident that resulted in lifelong injuries. Loretta is survived by her daughters, step-daughter, siblings, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her funeral service is scheduled for August 16, 2025, at Guy & Allen Chapel in Gary, Indiana.
