What's Happening?
EACON, a leader in autonomous mining technology, has successfully deployed its autonomous haulage system at the Julong Copper Mine in China, which is part of Zijin Mining. This mine, located in a high-altitude region, is one of the largest copper reserves globally. The deployment includes five 100-ton autonomous dump trucks operating alongside seven 200-ton manned trucks. This initiative aims to address the challenges of extreme weather and terrain, which have historically made it difficult to recruit and retain drivers. The introduction of autonomous technology is expected to improve safety and operational efficiency. The project is set to expand with the retrofitting of larger trucks and the implementation of EACON's fleet management system, ORCASTRA® CONDUCTOR, to manage a mixed fleet of autonomous vehicles.
